The Great Orléans Cemetery - "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" guided tour
This service is no longer available. OrléansPresentation
By the end of the 19th century, the two cemeteries of Saint-Jean and Saint-Vincent, created after the closure of the medieval Campo Santo cemetery, were already saturated. It was therefore decided in 1886 to open the Grand Cimetière, on a fifteen-hectare plot of land overlooking Boulevard Lamartine. It became the final resting place for a large number of the town's inhabitants, some of whom have distinguished themselves in the town's history. Come and pay your respects!
