La Source: a district of the 1960s - Guided tour "Ville d'Art et d'Histoire" (Town of Art and History)

This service is no longer available. Orléans

In 1959, the City of Orléans, led by Roger Secrétain, bought land from the commune of Saint-Cyr-en-Val and built the new "La Source" district. Thanks to this acquisition, Orléans grew by 718 hectares. The development project in this area was on a massive scale, lasting two decades and seeing the construction of collective housing, administrative buildings and research centres. Even today, "La Source" has a strong identity thanks to its 1960s architecture. Our guide will take you on a stroll through this district between the Lycée Voltaire and the University.
